Once you have decided on the purpose that you want your sticker to fulfil, it is time to decide on what material you should print your stickers. This is a very important decision because this determines the longevity of the stickers. There are some factors that you should consider like where you want your stickers to be stuck and what you want to achieve through the display before you decide what materials you should print your stickers on.
The design that you want is usually first printed on white vinyl or another kind of plastic and this is in turn stuck on a magnetic sheet. These are best suited for metal surfaces that are flat. If the surface is curved it may fall off. If you have a lot of information to print, this is probably not the best idea. This is ideal for just displaying your logo or anything else that is short and crisp. Definitely not more than a couple of words.
If you are wondering what this means, this is a sticker in which you can only see the content of the sticker and no background is visible. This is best suited for transparent window displays and transparent doors. These stickers can usually be removed and stuck again. They only have a mild adhesive holding it to the door or window. And keep in mind that if your store door or window is exposed to a lot of sunlight during the day, talk to your printing company beforehand and make sure the film that they use is durable for as long as you want the stickers to last. If your exposure to sunlight is too much, the next sticker on our list might be a good option for you. These stickers are printed on what is known as a cling film.
Simply put, these are the stickers in which the adhesive is on the side that has the printing. So you have to stick it on the back of the surface that you want to display it on. Keep mirror imaging and all such sciences in mind when you stick this one. This is a very safe bet, as no external force can ruin the sticker. If your store front is exposed to a lot of sunlight, you can opt for such a sticker so that the glass surface protects the sticker from any tarnishing. While you choose this kind of material to print your sticker on, make sure that you talk to the printing company about using good quality ink that does not stick to the surface when you remove the sticker.
This is just like the aforementioned sticker, but this is also clear. Which means that just the content of the sticker is visible with no visible background. Just like the clear stickers and the front side stickers, this is best suited for transparent glass doors and windows. This has a very thin layer of mild adhesive.
If you want to glam up a regular sticker, you should pick this material to print your stickers on. Usually printed on vinyl, these stickers are given a coating that helps reflect the light that falls on such stickers. So these stickers will look a little different in the night than they do during the day. These stickers should be stuck on surfaces where people can view them both during the day and night. And these stickers can be stuck on any surface – glass, wood, metal, plastic and such. The surface that it is stuck on does not affect its reflective abilities.
These are the kind of stickers, that when stuck on glass, have a printed display on one side (the outside), and the other side (the inside) has a kind of pattern that does not obstruct visibility. So if this is stuck on a glass door, customers will be able to see the message of your sticker from the outside as they walk in, but when they enter the store and look out through the same glass door, they will be able to see what’s there outside (the sticker will appear translucent). Keep in mind that this works only on transparent glass surfaces. Also, discuss the durability of the sticker with your printing company before placing your order.
These stickers are made with thicker material, usually vinyl and have very strong adhesive that will hold it to any surface. These kind of stickers are for outdoor usage and will withstand rain, snow and other extreme weather conditions. So if this is what you need, this is the sticker that you will have to order. You can even stick such stickers on steel surfaces. But confirm it with your printing company before placing the order.

These stickers have a think layer of adhesive and so will not remove paint even if stuck on walls indoors. But again, confirm it with your sticker printing company. The main reason people get these stickers is because of its temporary positionable nature. You can remove it and stick it again on another surface without any worry.
By far the coolest material to print your stickers on, is this glow in the dark sticker. This is also usually printed on vinyl. These stickers look normal under light, but when it’s dark will usually glow with a greenish or yellowish light. For how long the sticker will glow in the dark is something that you should discuss with your sticker printing company. This usually depends on the capability of the sticker to absorb light when it is exposed to it. But most stickers will glow very brightly for the first 15 minutes but will be able to glow reasonably well for at least an hour. Come up with funky ideas and stick these stickers everywhere!
These are just like the Clear Stickers – Type 1. The only difference being that this type is printed on vinyl. This is because, quality wise vinyl is better than cling film. Other than the material, everything else is the same. Only the message on the sticker will be visible with no visible background. Also, you can use these on all kinds of surfaces.
